Jordan life | Roaming girlfriends
It seems that stand-alone-males in Amman are illegal in many places all over the city; cafes, restaurants even malls, you can’t go to many places without a female plugged-in with you, I believe the concept of roaming girlfriends is vital now in Amman.
Should I take my girlfriend everywhere I go? What if we had a fight the day before or even a break-up? What if she was sick or out of town that day? What if I wanted to surprise her with a gift? What if I didn’t have a girlfriend at all?

I consider my self-maybe foolishly- to be a respectful person in the Jordanian community but I was not allowed to enter a cafe last week while I was accompanied by two PHD holders in Jordan (males). So, my advise for you if you do not have a girlfriend is to pick any one from the street and then you will be labelled as “family”.

As Batir said, nothing is more offensive than the term (innahar-da 3a2ilatt…?? :today is families) when he means “coubles only”. Walak shoo illi 3a2ilatt???
well, what if you are single and against the whole concept of pre-marital dating?

where is the family concept when couples r entering a cafe!

Any way my small brother -12- years old enters the mall by walking near an old woman or family! u can use this in such places
As for other places! Sorry man u’v got to have a/any girl for such circumstances! Or to be a member in that place – specially when it’s mentioned “Members Only”.

In Jordan, I can see this happening due to some sick practice of customer selective “profiling” in futile attempt to “maintain” the type or homogeneousness of the venue’s clientele, but to no avail.
Maybe it worked a couple of years ago, when it was easy to shove off “certain type/class of people” who assumingly were profiled by the lack of “access to females” or perhaps to balance the equilibrium between male to female ratio in what used to be dominantly males who comprise the bulk of those who go out to have fun.
But things changed, and the “certain type of people” who used to not have “girlfriends/partners” now do, and the assumed “niche” can no longer be maintained, plus there is as much female fun seekers men, hence no need to enforce a girls-drink-for-free nights, “coubles-only” or whatever gender profiling of any sort!
Here in Saudi however, this occurs for a totally different set of reasons, mostly due to the “contemporary” tradition of outright gender segregation in light of a certain understanding of Islamic doctrine which is not entirely wrong (unlawful mixing), but apparently they lost track while implementing it.
I’d call for boycotting these venues altogether… bloody hell, how did it come to this!

Batir imagine that you are asking a girl in Amman such a request, they are too weird and have an ego, and what happened to you is too offensive, I saw your photo and you seemed to be a mature person not a teenager who will chase girls and yet you were bounced with 2 other gentlemen.
Its really irritating Abu Shreek but we have to face this fact and list the places that are not infected by this disease and go to
rare, if it was a disco or a dancing gig I can understand cause you will need a partner, but for example; if you wanted to go to that bad cinema in Mecca Mall because they are screening a movie exclusively the security keeps the group as prisoners waiting for one of them to get the tickets, come back and free the rest, a bowling center like Abu AlDahab there is a floor for couples only. Once there were a “couples only” trip to the dead sea.
Basem any place can kick any person out if he did something wrong and solve the problem, once me and my friend were standing beside the glass borders in Abdoun Mall the security asked us step back cause its not allowed, I noticed that he didn’t approach the group next to us (a guy & 2 girls), now when that mall ran out of business they changed their attitude toward single men.

What if you want to have a good time with a friend at a café that is located in your neighborhood? Shall you pay extra transportations/ Gas to go to a place you actually do not prefer and far just coz it allows?? That’s unfair and one of our society contradictions…
If I were in your shoe I would go to any close garden which is unfortunately rare also in this country. Or simply HOME SWEET HOME
I can understand “Couples only” at a honeymoon resorts…etc but not cafes and restaurant as we see here As for Mecca mall. Yeh it happened with me several, many teenagers and also mature guys asked me to tell the guards that they are in my companion and yes they allowed them to enter the holy Mecca mall, then they disappeared
Solution?? Get married is far better to pick a/any girl… so easy Haa

About marriage, a married guy can’t have fun because his wife will keep nagging and nagging and make his life miserable, here I see the home is the best choice.

Well, walking the guys into Mecca Mall is offered for others but not me! I’m avoiding those places anyway.
As for marriage its miserable whatever the situation was, but its the end of every happy guy and those who avoid it are the lucky ones.

Well, I think night clubs in jordan doesn’t ask for that
So if you are a single guy in jordan, well either stay at home, or go to night club, you might hock up with a prostitute there
Well, Couples Only is the word I hate the most, as if you don’t have a girlfriend, well you are lesser human.
