Ramadan increases TV advertising rates by 25%

It’s pretty obvious that the Holy Month of Ramadan is losing its spiritual side to pure commercial purposes, it’s becoming more of a theme for companies to make more money, just like summer or back-to-schools, for TV stations it’s a season to widen the audience and gain more money. This year, more than 40 Arabic TV series are lined up to entertain Arabs, ranging between Syrian, Khaleeji, Bedouin, Historical and Egyptian, imagine the amount of money spent on these shows.

Personally I was expecting a decrement in TV advertising rates due to the high competition, but I guess I was wrong, Emirates Business reports that TV advertising rates during Ramadan have increased by 25%, reaching as high as 35,000 USD$ for a 30-second TV commercial during the Khaleeji show Koullouna E’yaal Qarya on MBC1.

According to the report, the prime time during Ramadan is between 6:30pm and 2am, the time after Iftar in most of Middle Eastern countries.
