Last Friday while I was on Al Mamzar Beach in Dubai this stranger came for an unplanned visit, I guess it’s an octopus or a squid, it seems like some boat ran into it and shredded its arms then they captured the head, then it started injecting ink, creepy, ha? The weird part is that is stayed alive even that they buried it under the sand, then when they through it back into the sea it just went away!

Dubai Aquarium, a new addition to the set of cool and unexpected stuff that you can see and enjoy while you are in Dubai, this large aquarium puts you face to face with the creatures of the sea to explore the uniqueness of the sea.
The project is located in Dubai Mall, the world’s largest mall, and consists of an aquarium and a water zoo, it was really interesting to be surrounded with a variety of amazing creatures, if you are in Dubai, I believe it’s a good idea to pay it a visit, here are some photos I took while I was there:

It’s pretty promising to witness a growth in the number of Dubai Lynx entries, according to the organizers of Middle East’s premier advertising awards, the total number of entries that were submitted to this year’s awards reached 2079 compared to 2023 last year.
What I found strange is the drop in the number of Print & TV entries, which went even lower than what it was when this competition first started in 2007, but I guess this is the average number, TV entries went up by one entry in 2008 compared to 2007, while Print dropped by 2 entries last year, so I believe it will remain around these number next year for those 2 categories, same goes for Outdoor, which witnessed an overwhelming growth last year, and a mere upturn this year, but who knows!
Other categories are enjoying a steady growth, except for the direct marketing, which dropped by 10 entries, well, does it mean that the Middle East is a purely ATL-oriented market? I guess so.
Take a look at the Dubai Lynx website.

More exciting news from Arabia’s one and only Advertising Festival, Dubai Lynx has teamed up with the leading global network Leo Burnett to form the Lynx Academy, a dedicated advertising school for 20 students from across the MENA region.
The Dubai Lynx Academy will be a permanent addition to the festival, and will offer an educational program during the event, including unique master-classes and tutorials given by top industry figures, in addition to seminars, screenings, exhibitions and workshops during the festival.
The most exciting thing about the academy is that the top three students will enjoy a four-week work experience in a Leo Burnett office, personally I consider it a golden opportunity, Leo Burnett is one of the best advertising agencies in the world, and spending a month there will be a great experience to the students.
