wi-tribe | A new broadband wireless access provider in Jordan
These ads were a teaser/revealer campaign for a new ISP in Jordan, wi-tribe. Basically it’s a new wireless solution to connect to the internet, but of course we hope it will be a really good service, I blogged about Umniah’s WiMax service couple of months ago and I’m getting feedback on the service, most of it negative, but let’s hope this one will be good, take a look at the prices here.
I believe that the best way to launch a new product is through a campaign that will leave the audience wanting more, instead of giving all details about the product in one shot, tease their curiosity in order to do an action to get more details about this new product, after seeing the revealer ad I decided to visit their website to get more details about the new company, I guess if they detailed everything in the ad, I wouldn’t do so.

My UMax expires end this month, conveniently - I’ve been fairly satisfied with it - up until they decide to throttle the speed with no notice. I’m planning to try out WiTribe. I love the feel of their brand so far ,)

Guess what, they are using the same hardware as umniah, wimax form Airspan (www.airspan.com. And they offer the same modem from umniah EasyST from Airspan.

Their prices are very close to those of Umniah, but they offer both monthly and yearly subscription plans, and there is no indication of download cap limit!! and they don’t have a coverage map on their website.

I am the kind of guy who critisizes advertising in Jordan, especially telecom ads, they are all the same talking about how cheap they are with stupid visuals. they think that the bigger the font and the more pages they use in newspapers, the cooler they would look!that is so lame. to me wi-tribe played a very clever role in their ad. being a telecom company, they made it simple. the “SHABAKNA IL HAWA” itself is talking. But that’s my opinion. now it depends on their service.
I tried calling the number in the newspaper, ok i waited for 4 minutes (expected as the company is new and they would be recieveing 1000000 calls)but their customer care exceeded my expectations. the truth is I cannot say a bad word, they were very helpful and gave me full details!

i loved their campaign and the “good connectivity is a happiness thing :)”
i think the company is promising and their prices are very reasonable, if only they put some info on download limits since all telecom companies are giving us hard time with it.

I was extremely happy with Wi-Tribe. I was visiting Amman this last month and joined their monthly membership. The sign-up process was painless. They checked my location for availability down to the house I am staying at. Connection was excellent and immediate. I liked the fact that the modem connects through the LAN port ( can actually be connected to a wireless router for extra mobility aoround the house). I received a call shortly afterwards to check on my satisfaction or if I had any issues. Most my connection (I took the 512 level) was through VPN and remote desktop with excellent speed and consistency. Local download speed was very good also. I returned my modem and ended my service right before my trip back to the U.S. again the return process was painless and straightforward. This is a company that really caters for its customers. Hope they keep it up when I return next year. They deserve a 5 STAR for connectivity, and CUSTOMER SERVICE! Thank you Wi-Tribe

OK, so here I am writing this on a PC connected through a Wi-Tribe connection.
And I must say that the connection itself is as widely variant as the level of their customer service.
At some points, downloads flow in nicely at around 120KB/s, and sometimes it chokes and is only marginally better than dial-up.
Customer support also varies between extremely helpful, and extremely eager to help but doesn’t what they’re talking about.
One note, if you are a torrent user, don’t expect your downloads to go above 32KB/s. And if you have a wireless router without a dedicated WAN port, expect to use one PC only at a time.

it’s good to hear positive feedback from people who actually used the service, promising!
