The Dubai-based airline, Emirates, revealed what could be the hugest ambient media advertising in the world, a 45-tonne replica of the largest passenger airplane ever made, the Airbus A380. More than 25 million visitors to Heathrow airport in London will be exposed to Emirates impressive branding efforts at the gates of world’s busiest airport.
According to their press release, the project needed 18 months of work to be completed, the replica was manufactured by an American company in California, then it was transported to London.
Some interesting facts about the replica:
- Weighs more than 45 tonnes
- Wingspan of 26 metres and a length of 24 metres
- Same size as a real Boeing 737
- Exact 1:3 scale of the real A380, the world’s largest airliner
- More than twice the size of the roundabout’s previous Concorde model
- Made of glass-reinforced plastic over a steel frame
- Foundations required 600 tonnes of concrete

Amazing ambient ideas by Miami Ad School in Brazil, the idea is to raise awareness of global warming effect on the world and the importance of stopping it, read the rationale of each implementation for more details, really impressive.

A world map sticker is glued on the bottle, the water inside it simulates world’s potable water supplies.
At the bottle is written: “World’s drinkable water supplies are running out. Stop Global Warming.”

A world map is printed on the cup, with (BASF/3M) termo activated paint. When the cup is filled by hot coffee, the paint changes its color onto yellow tone, simulating climatic change, (deserts).
At the cup is written: “High temperatures are changing the planet. Stop Global Warming.”

This piece of work deserves being highlighted here, it’s a combination between outdoor and ambient media, I’m not sure about the blood on the cars, unless they parked those cars. It was created by Saatchi & Saatchi in New Zealand for TV2 to promote Kill Bill movie.

This is an interesting idea but not sure what is the advertising agency.
An advertising agency in Amman have targeted most of the Creative Directors in the Middle East to apply for this job (if they are not happy at their current agency of course). We thought the best way to target them was to send it straight to them by post. Over 100 postcards were sent, so keep your eyes peeled there maybe one coming your way.
