$2.75 million is the price for a phone number in Qatar
Qatar Telecom has set a new Guinness record after a charity auction that saw the sale of the world’s most expensive mobile phone number. The number (6666666), the number of the beast
, was sold for $2.75 million at a fundraising event organized by Qtel last year, the previous record was in China, when the number 8888-8888 sold for $480,000.
What I didn’t understand is the auction was organized last year, but it will be in 2009 edition of The Guinness Book of World Records, I mean shouldn’t it be in 2008 edition?
But the 2.75-million-dollar question is this: If Qtel didn’t organize this “charity” auction, would this guy, who bought the number, consider paying such a big amount of money to charity? I guess NO.
